HLN has cancelled Ellen DeGeneres-produced game show Heads Up! ahead of its series premiere.
Per Variety, the cable network has scrapped the series despite having 65 produced episodes in the can:
The Time Warner-owned cable network, a sister to CNN known best for its coverage of headline news and courtroom drama as well as Nancy Grace’s primetime show, will not air the program, a network spokeswoman, Alison Rudnick, confirmed. HLN had envisioned airing the show Monday through Friday.
The program’s demise is the latest signal that CNN is rethinking what to do with HLN. Former Viacom programming executive Albie Hecht was recruited in the fall of 2013 to transform the network into a place that highlighted the chatter emerging on social media. He departed in late November of last year as CNN worldwide president Jeff Zucker articulated a new direction for the cable outlet — using it as a place to burnish the library of nonfiction programming CNN has amassed for its prime-time hours.
RIP.

CNN and headline news are anything but. Headline News should be 24 hour news not a bunch of game shows, tabloid shows and reality shows it become. if you want Headline News you need to get it in the morning otherwise there is no news the rest of the day or night. Change the name, it’s misleading.
As for CNN. Same thing, People want news, we aren’t interested in the non-new stuff and everyone knows there is much more going on in the world than the same old boring politics that you and all the other networks are immersed in. Shows featuring obviously biased people like Ashley Banfield make me sick. Journalists are supposed to be neutral, she is the most opposite that you have in your line up. She would better fit on MSNBC.
Too bad Al Jazzera America is going off the air next month. They had it more right than most others, they reported more news from all around the world than all the other networks combined. Too bad they couldn’t get the ratings they needed, perhaps it was the prejudice of the name?

Yes, Americans would not get the name…and yes ,it was the closest to world news that we have had.the political scene too has made us tired of what is on tv.
