ABC has cancelled The Great American Baking Show in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against judge Johnny Iuzzini.
In a statement, the network announced it has cut short the current third season:
“In light of allegations that recently came to our attention, ABC has ended its relationship with Johnny Iuzzini and will not be airing the remainder of ‘The Great American Baking Show’ episodes. ABC takes matters such as those described in the allegations very seriously and has come to the conclusion that they violate our standards of conduct. This season’s winner will be announced at a later date. Episodes of ‘The Great Christmas Light Fight’ and ‘CMA Country Christmas’ will take its place this week and next.”
At the time of the cancellation, ABC did not state whether the show will definitely return for Season 4 with new judges.
What do you think of the decision? Hoping Great American Baking Show will resurrect for Season 4 without Iuzzini, or should it stay cancelled forever?

Why can’t they just replace the Judge? Do they really have to cancel a show with MANY people on it because of one guy’s stupid actions?
MaryJo says
Why is he guilty until proven innocent?!?!?
HA says
Exactly… apparently all it takes now is random allegations to ruin someone’s career… it’s ludicrous.
Jay says
The episodes have already been taped & they don’t want to give the dismissed judge any coverage/recognition with the allegations that have been made. Hopefully they’ll bring it back next year though, with a new judge.
Beth says
I like be that show, get a new judge!

I am SO angry that ABC is cancelling the show this year!! ABC, your customer focus is worse than despicable. Many many of us love that show and we like to watch it for the process. To just announce the winner at some future time… misses the whole point. How can I possibly care at this stage? We are grown up enough to decide if we want to watch Luzzini or not. I support this sea change that is resulting in men taking a close look at their past behavior. But are we over-reacting? Seems to me a disgruntled ex can now make an allegation, and heads will roll without due process. And that includes ABC for sure… a network that would as soon punish its watchers as Luzzini, apparently. Thanks a LOT, ABC. Does anyone know how to protest this decision? I am certainly NOT going to watch whatever replacement shows they are planning to substitute.
Kas Gow says
Leave us hanging as to who won. We enjoy the show.
gigi says
They should replace the judge and continue with the season.
blm says
The show’s been taped already.

This is starting to get ridiculous. Yes, sexual (or other) harassment is bad, and the perpetrators should be punished *if found guilty* and *in proportion to the crime*. But all it takes today is vague allegations of something happening ten years ago and somebody’s (and maybe multiple somebodies in this case) career is over. Maybe he did something, maybe he didn’t, and maybe what he did is only harassment in the accuser’s eyes, or maybe the accusers are just looking for some publicity and a quick payout. I have no clue one way or the other, and I suspect no one does except Iuzzini and the accusers. Yet his career is effectively over, the exposure the hosts and contestants would have received is lost, and the fans are left with the first third of a show.

I totally agree! All of this attention on S.H. is now just replacing the Russia nonsense. Unbelievable. .what next? There are enough garbage shows on Telly. This was a great show to watch. As mentioned, it was already taped so let it run through. He could very well be innocent, then look what you have done. Ridiculous.
Peggy Hill says
ABC is famous for dropping shows in the middle of the season leaving its viewers hanging. I’m past sick of it. This judge hasn’t been proven guilty of anything. ABC is just trying to be judge and jury here. I never watch any of the new series they have because I know it’s more than likely they will find a reason to cancel. They’ve never given a crap about what the viewers want to see. Boycott ABC.
CONNIE G BALTHROP says
This is so unfair to everyone working on the show. SHAME ON ABC. They could replace him just like they did when the other cast members left. He has not even been given a chance to defend himself. AGAIN SHAME ON YOU ABC.
blm says
This season has been taped, so short of retaping much of each remaining episode, which would be pretty impractical, they can’t just replace Iuzzini. They could for future seasons, and hopefully that’s what ABC will do, although as far as I know they haven’t said one way or the other.
glenn says
this is really bull. The have shows with crackheads and wife beaters but an accusation cancels the airing midshowing. Wtf is wrong with these people
Jan says
What he has allegedly done can’t be changed. When the show is Live, they can just make the “offender” disappear. Since this is taped, it’s different. It’s not fair to the contestants or the many, many people watching the show. The whole intent of the show is to be able to watch them make the different items that are always a challenge to them. Finding out who wins at a later time is like reading 2 chapters of a book and then reading the ending. The rest of the cast, the contestants, and the viewers shouldn’t be “punished” for something that one person allegedly did. Come on, ABC!
osuclaudia says
How about running what is already taped and beginning or ending the show with a statement that the judge will no longer appear on future baking shows because of the allegations? Viewers are sophisticated enough understand that one bad apple should not spoil everyone’s entertainment.
elbee303 says
Exactly!

I feeli terrible for the contestants that gave up time and left their families, excited to be on tv. And sad for viewers that looked forward to this family-friendly show. Frightened for any man with a disgruntled ex, rejected admirer or psychotic fan. Remarkably angry/disappointed by ABC for their judgmental and/or cowardly actions (not sure which). And incredulous that the same network that resumed filming high-ratings Bachelor in Paradise despite a documented sex scandal didn’t bother to figure out a way to let this already taped but less highly rated show survive. I’m sure ABC executives are smugly satisfied when they ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Karen says
Definitely bring it back with a different judge. I never liked him anyway. Just sorry they had to cancel the show because of him. Grow up, already!
Patricia Wicker says
I Love this Show!!! Just get a New Judge!!!!!
Ginny says
The show is so good, no need to completely cancel it. Bring it back with a new replacement for Johnny. There are so many capable judges out there. Seems unfair to the rest of the people who work on the project.
Jan says
If you want to automatically consider a person guilty immediately when they are accused of something, they should be considered innocent up until that time. All the episodes that have already been taped, should be shown. Then replace them for future episodes.
Kelly Heidenreich says
This show should have gone on! bring it back!
Mindy says
I really hope they bring it back!!!
Rochelle says
I don’t understand why a whole show has to be canceled because of one judge? Replace him!!!
