Outdoor Lifestyles Drive Double-Digit Ratings Growth on Great American Country
NEW YORK [March 22, 2017] Outdoor lifestyles helped Great American Country (GAC) deliver its highest-rated year since 2007 among viewers A25-54 in primetime. To build on that success in 2017, the network will deliver 254 hours of programming that focus on road trips, RV living and cool cabins. GAC’s online offerings, part of the Scripps Lifestyles Studios, include fun ideas for outdoor activities, such as tailgating. They also expand on the network’s popular Americana themes.
GAC series, such as Living Alaska, will showcase what it’s like to live in the remote beauty of the Alaskan wilderness, while new series Log Cabin Kings, premiering in October, will follow master artisans who craft log homes and then ship them all around the world to be reconstructed wherever their clients want. The network also continues to explore life on the open road with more episodes of Going RV, which follows families who want to enjoy the quintessential American road trip.
GAC also triggered more episodes of its highest-rated show, Emmy-nominated Flea Market Flip, starring design enthusiast and Good Morning America co-host Lara Spencer. The hit series features two teams that compete to repurpose flea market finds for a profit.
And, of course, GAC features all of the country music programming that America loves.
“Great American Country enjoyed a solid ratings performance in 2016, where we saw double-digit ratings growth,” said Allison Page, General Manager, U.S. Programming and Development for HGTV, DIY Network, Food Network, Cooking Channel, Travel Channel and Great American Country. “Families who are out there enjoying the great outdoors attract a big audience.” (GAC)
