Gilmore Girls will end its eighth season revival with less closure than initially advertised, dramatically increasing the need for Season 9 renewal.
Speaking to EW, Daniel Palladino confirms that he and co-creator creator Amy Sherman-Palladino have left the door open for the Netflix renewal gods, noting that “we never say never”:
“The cast is not killed in a terrible explosion at the end. Spoiler alert! It’s sort of a wacky world out there. It’s more difficult logistically than it would be for Amy and I to come up with stories.” Is that a yes? “We don’t know if this is the ending because we never thought Gilmore Girls would come back in any form. But it’s a new world out there and there are new ways to experience things. Who knows? It might be a radio broadcast next. Just us, a couple of mikes, a Foley artist.”
However, Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), is not getting ahead of the cancellation reaper, preferring to see how things pan out:
“With so many sequels, things do change and actors don’t want to do it, but here you’ve got pretty much everybody and we’re happy to be together and we really like each other. Let’s just see what happens. I’m a day-to-day kind of person. I just hope everybody likes this one.”
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the status of Gilmore Girls Season 9…
