Firefly was dragged to cancellation hell after just one season in 2002-03, and speaking to TVLine, series star Gina Torres is in no doubt as to who is to blame for the space western’s demise:
“The idea of it was fantastic. I really do think we were ahead of our time. Unfortunately… Fox just didn’t get it, and they buried us. They can take full responsibility for that.”

That being said, the actress looks back on her role as Zoë with fondness:
“I so appreciate that the writers would let Zoe really be a girl and a woman and a wife. That made her the ultimate chick, because she was a fully realized person. That’s what I mourn most, given the early demise of the show.”

One of the several things for which I cannot forgive Fox (and let’s not even start in on their ‘news’…). I’m still sad about Brimstone…
