Scripps Lifestyle Studios today announced the expansion of Genius Kitchen, a new food-focused digital platform aimed toward younger audiences, to Android devices and Android TV. With this launch, the 150+ hours of Genius Kitchen on-demand content – including original shows like GK Now and Feast with Friends and international programs like Simply Nigella – will now be available to Android’s hundreds of millions of users.
“The Android launch presents a huge opportunity to continue expanding Genius Kitchen content to reach more users and passionate fans on every platform,” said Liesel Kipp, Senior Vice President of Product and Design at Scripps Lifestyle Studios. The app is available for download in the Google Play Store.
In conjunction with the Android announcement, Genius Kitchen is debuting a new special, Famous Food Truck, which is hosted by YouTube celebrity and Canadian actor Harley Morenstein and features social media influencer and Dancing with the Stars contestant Hayes Grier as the celebrity guest. Together in their tricked-out food truck, Harley and Hayes show viewers how to create drool-worthy Korean-inspired egg sandwiches and hand them out to adoring fans.
“With ‘Famous Food Truck’ and all the content on Genius Kitchen, we are bringing in social influencers and digital talent who appeal to younger viewers raised on YouTube and social media,” said Rich Lacy, Senior Vice President of Digital Brand Creative & Genius Kitchen at Scripps Lifestyle Studios.
Genius Kitchen has already seen its first viral success with the Halloween recipe video “Pizza Skulls,” which has generated over 69 million video views, at the time of this writing. Additional social video collaborations with internet cat sensation Pusheen have driven high views and engagements across all Genius Kitchen social platforms. (Scripps)
