Investigation Discovery Exposes Crying, Lying Killers With Second Series of Faking It: Tears of a Crime
Faking It: Tears of a Crime S2 examines murders that shook the nation, including the infamous case of Oscar Pistorius and the Soham Murders of two ten-year-old girls, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman
LONDON (May 31): Investigation Discovery, the UK’s number one real-life crime channel, orders a second series of Faking It: Tears of A Crime, after series one achieved the highest ever rating for the channel. Produced by Shearwater Media, the 6 x 60 series unearths the spine-tingling deception behind notorious real-life murders that stunned the world.
Faking It: Tears of a Crime series two investigates what’s really going on behind the tearful court appearances of Paralympic poster boy, Oscar Pistorius, now convicted of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The series also examines how Ian Huntley lied about the Soham murders in a series of TV interviews, and how girlfriend Maxine Carr supported his false alibi that misled police.
The series will also analyse Britain’s infamous ‘Cesspit Killer’, Ian Stewart, found guilty in February 2017 of burying alive his partner and popular children’s author, Helen Bailey. It was also revealed that in order to cover up the murder, Stewart had buried alive Helen’s pet dog.
With a panel of experts in forensic psychology, emotional intelligence and linguistics, the compelling series interrogates the jaw-dropping protests of innocence, from the perpetrators of some of the world’s most notorious and high-profile criminal cases. The expert format brings a unique, analytic lens to the series, drawing on specialist talent and sound reason to skillfully reassess these alarming murders.
Clare Laycock, VP, Head of Channels at Discovery Networks UK and Ireland, said: “I’m so pleased to bring the gripping series back to ID – the undisputable home of real crime. The series offers fascinating and chilling insights into the minds of infamous convicted murderers, giving ID addicts the chance to take on the role of the detective alongside our experts.”
The first series sparked national interest; episode two secured the channel’s highest ever rating with 196k viewers and the series average made it ID’s second highest title ever. Faking It: Tears of A Crime series two airs on Investigation Discovery in the UK and Ireland later this year.
The series was commissioned by Charlotte Reid, Director, Factual Entertainment at Discovery Networks International, for Clare Laycock. For Investigation Discovery, Steve Jones is the Executive Producer and Steve Anderson is the Executive Producer at Shearwater Media. (ID)
