Extant Cancelled By CBS – No Season 3

October 9, 2015 by RenewCancelTV 19 Comments

Extant has become extinct. CBS has cancelled the Halle Berry series after two seasons, having decided not to move forward with Season 3.

The network, which has renewed Zoo and cancelled Under The Dome in recent weeks, will instead develop a new legal drama with Berry.

Glenn Geller, president of CBS Entertainment, said:

“CBS, Halle Berry and the producers have decided to conclude the Extant story after last season’s exciting and fitting conclusion. Extant played an important role in expanding CBS’s lineup of original scripted programming in the summer. We are proud of the show’s success on the network, as well as its popularity on Amazon Prime Video. We also want to thank the incomparable Halle Berry for her commitment and support for the series, and look forward to working with her on our next project together.”

Said Berry:

I am so proud of what we accomplished on Extant. This season seemed such a natural place to end Molly’s journey that I, along with CBS, felt it best served the story to leave it there. I’ve loved this experience working with such a talented cast and creative team. ‎It was my first foray into episodic television, and I’m excited to continue my relationship with CBS, producing more compelling stories through my 606 Films production banner.”

RIP.

RIP

I agree with your comment. I absolutely loved Extant. It was such a wonderful show about life and how we embrace it. The cast, all around, were brilliant. I do believe this is Halle Berry’s best work. Please please reconsider. And BTW, I never post anything on any site.

Usually don’t watch much on CBS, but that was one I did. Shame. Halle Berry was good in it.

Why why why did you have to cancel Extant just when it was getting so good? I refuse to watch any more new shows on CBS–they will just get the axe after a season or two. You keep Zoo and not Extant? Absolutely insane.

I agree. Zoo lost me after 4 shows but Extant and POI I’ve watched from the beginning. Network TV is crashing by it’s own hand.

Sad to see but Zoo is a superior series and more gripping. Has more mileage as a story as well.

CBS is not leaving me with two much to watch. CBS has been good with their programming and I have been very happy with them. But now with two of my favorites being cancelled I’m not a happy camper.

CBS you are failing to comply with people’s choices. Sometimes is better to have a 1,000 than a million watchers if in the end, you will be more watched than others. I used to like Sy-Fy channel, until they started canceling all my favourite shows I do not even look at what they show now, they do not exist for me. Be warned! You have cancelled: Extant, Proof, Person of Interest all of my favourites. The only ones I will be watching now will be Zoo and Scorpion. Cancel those and it will be the last time i will stop at your channel for good. The one thing tv viewers respect is the respect you people have for tv viewers and this means that you don’t remove a series just because the audience wasn’t a million or more. If a 100,000 people watch, it is good and can get better.

Didn’t any of you read the article. Extant was cancelled because Halle Berry wants to work on another project with CBS developing a legal drama which I am sure Berry will be her usual fantastic self.

Hi, I don’t watch a lot of show but i was watching this all the way from merry old England and I cannot believe just after two seasons it has been cancelled, it was a brilliant show and i think more effort should have been made to keep it going, sorry but it is a very big loss.

Ok, who decides what to keep or cancel?? Then you cancel without the show giving closure. So fans get all involved, at the season finale, waiting to see what happens next only to have it cancelled. It doesn’t make sense. If your going to cancel, which you should not, then at least give it closure. Why even watch shows on your channel, get all invested and have it cancel. Ridiculous
