With cancellation a very real threat, if not already sealed, The Exorcist will wrap its first season with a degree of closure, according to creator Jeremy Slater, though the ending might not be the happiest, per TVInsider:
“I hate cliffhangers, just as a fan. You’re going to get a beginning, a middle, and an end but that doesn’t mean it’s going to have a happy ending, but it will have an ending.”
While closure limits the impact of a likely cancellation from a narrative standpoint, Slater is still planning for future seasons, which would see the same characters continue the story:
“The characters who survive and still have story left to tell, you will definitely carry them on into future seasons. There’s a lot more story left to tell once we hit the finish line.”
Will The Exorcist be cancelled with ‘closure’, or can it gain possession of a second season? Stay tuned for the very latest cancel/renew updates…
