CBS has ordered an additional two episodes of Elementary, bringing Season 5 to 24 episodes.
Elementary‘s ratings struggles mean the extension is not necessarily a positive indicator for Season 6 renewal, and could in fact be the show’s death sentence, should the episodes turn out to be less about renewal and more about closure.

February 3, 2017 at 10:28Just renew it, for heaven’s sake. This show is VASTLY underrated and always has been. Jonnie Lee Miller and Lucy Liu have been constantly snubbed at the Emmys. They both deserve to win. A weekly show about Sherlock Holmes is incredibly difficult to maintain, yet this show has really done it. It should not exist only on the shadow of SHERLOCK, which has the luxury of producing only three feature length episodes every two to three years. This show is always on high alert in the creativity department and it should be recognized as such. So, RENEW IT !!!

March 9, 2017 at 13:49this show should be renewed! High quality, intelligent programming is hard to find. The ratings are deceptive because of the horrible time-slot management by CBS – someone needs to learn how to do their job!
