Wildly Popular Comedians Star in Modernized Reboot of Classic Series from Sid and Marty Krofft
Burbank, CA – Legendary Digital Media and Fullscreen have partnered with YouTube phenoms Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart in an updated version of Sid & Marty Krofft’s classic 70’s TV series Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, bringing the property to a new generation of viewers. Fullscreen will debut and exhibit Electra Woman and Dyna Girl in the U.S. with Legendary Television Distribution overseeing global distribution. Sid & Marty Krofft will executive produce the project.
The announcement was made today by Legendary’s President of Television & Digital Media, Bruce Rosenblum, and Fullscreen’s CEO and founder George Strompolos.
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl follows two superheroes as they move from Akron to Los Angeles in hopes of making it big in the crime fighting world, only to find competition with other vigilantes and infighting amongst themselves.
The series, starring Helbig as Electra Woman and Hart as Dyna Girl, comes on the heels of Helbig’s crossover from YouTube fame to television as the host of a late night talk show for E! which premieres in April. Both Helbig and Hart have large social media followings with a combined total of over 10 million subscribers and followers over all of their YouTube and social media platforms. This series also follows Helbig’s and Hart’s recent digital feature film success, Camp Takota, which was executive produced by Helbig and Hart and produced by Fullscreen’s Chief Content Officer Michael Goldfine, and picked up by Netflix last year.

The reboot of the cult classic TV series will be directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, an award-winning director of music videos for top artists including Ariana Grande, Ke$ha and the Black Keys. Helbig and Hart and their respective managers Ken Treusch and Sarah Weichel will also serve as executive producers. The project is produced by Tim Carter and Tomas Harlan under their Contradiction Films banner which most recently produced Dead Rising: Watchtower with Legendary Digital Media and the hit digital series Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

Helbig is a comedian, actress, video blogger and author. She is the creator and star of series including it’sGrace, winner of a Webby, and the IAWTV and Streamy award-winning DailyGrace, which both have more than two million YouTube subscribers, as well as the recently launched series HeyUSA for Conde Nast’s internet channel The Space. Helbig’s recent podcast “Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig” is consistently number one on iTunes. Helbig released her first book “Grace’s Guide: The Art of Pretending to Be a Grown-up” in 2014, earning her a #1 position on the New York Times Bestseller list in its first week of release. She is a frequent guest (six times) on Comedy Central’s @midnight and was a guest four times on Chelsea Lately. Hart is an award winning comedian, Internet personality, actress, producer, philanthropist and New York Times best selling author. Hart created and stars in the YouTube series My Drunk Kitchen, which won Streamy Awards in 2013 and 2014 and currently has more than 1.8 million YouTube subscribers. She also co-produced, created and starred in Hello, Harto, a show and tour which she crowd funded over $250,000 to distribute 100,000 pounds of food to feed local communities. Hart’s philanthropic efforts and community outreach found her leading a discussion about millennial engagement with President Obama at the White House. Hart released her first book “My Drunk Kitchen: A Guide to Eating, Drinking, and Going with Your Gut,” published by Harper Collins and on the New York Times Bestseller list for six consecutive weeks in 2014. In January 2015 Hart was named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30, an annual list which spotlights talented individuals under 30 years old across a variety of fields. She is repped by UTA and Sarah Weichel.

As the premier launch sponsor, AT&T will collaborate with Fullscreen to market and promote the service with special offers for AT&T’s more than 100 million video, mobile and broadband customers.
