Drive has been cancelled due to low ratings and a ‘sexting scandal’ involving host Vernon Kay, according to The Sun:
Last night a source claimed the decision was linked to Vernon’s poor reputation after The Sun revealed he had sent flirty texts to model Rhian Sugden, 29, behind TV star wife Tess Daly’s back.
A telly insider said: “Viewing figures have been appalling and Vernon hasn’t done any favours for the show following his sex text shame.
“Unsurprisingly, ITV aren’t bringing it back for a second run.”
However, a show spokesperson has denied that the motoring series has been sent to the scrapheap, with a decision apparently yet to be made on Series 2, per Digital Spy:
“Any suggestion that Drive won’t be returning for a second series is pure speculation and we will make a decision in due course.”
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the official status of Drive Series 2….
