The Detectorists Season 3 will bring the cult BBC series to an end, but could there still be a fourth season?
Speaking to RadioTimes, creator/star Mackenzie Crook buried any chance of a Season 4:
“I took a year off to figure out whether I wanted to do any more, whether there was any more in there; yes, it took a while to realize that I did want to do six more episodes to finish. I don’t want to make any sort of big, dramatic announcement that ‘never again’, but I can’t see myself going back to it.
On the third and final season and where it will leave the characters/story:
“This third series is perhaps about where you belong, putting down roots and settling somewhere. If anything, by the end of this series, hopefully they will have have found a place, and we as an audience are happy to let them get on with it.”
Are you looking forward to the final season of Detectorists? Sad the show is coming to an end?

This is the most wonderful series – beautifully acted and observed – just watched the whole thing again over a couple of weeks – outstanding.

Disappointing, No Season 4. I loved the series. Good change from all the canned laughter on boob tube. The open countryside is a ‘ breath of fresh air ‘ . The characters are endeering.

Loved The series. Berry disappointed there won’t be a season 4. The characters are endearing, and the choreography of the countryside is a ‘ breath of fresh air ‘ from the overly scripted and predictable stuff on ‘ mainstream tv. Hope they will change their mind.
Robert J Morris says
Same here. Loved the series.

Please bring back Detectorists. What a wonderful story, lovable actors, great writing, amazing scenery, just gorgeous in every aspect. I miss it.

It’s late 2020, and the world could seriously use another season of The Detectorists.
