ABC chief Channing Dungey has opened up about the “hard” decision to cancel Designated Survivor after two seasons, per Deadline:
“That was a hard one for us,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said Tuesday during ABC’s upfront press call about the cancellation decision. “It did well in delayed viewing but its Live+Same Day delivery in the 10 PM hour had become challenging.”
There was another issue. “Creatively, the show had a lot of behind-the-scenes churn in terms of the number of showrunners,” Dungey said. “We were less confident about the creative path forward than the other shows we brought back.”
Will Designated Survivor resurface on another network/platform? To the reaper’s contempt, the series is ‘actively’ being shopped elsewhere for Season 3.
Stay tuned to see if Designated Survivor‘s cancellation is short-lived…
