HBO has cancelled Confederate ahead of its planned 2019 series premiere, according to reports.
Per sources, the controversial alternate history drama has been dropped.
Confederate was due to chronicle the events leading to the Third American Civil War. Per the show’s official synopsis:
The series takes place in an alternate timeline, where the southern states have successfully seceded from the Union, giving rise to a nation in which slavery remains legal and has evolved into a modern institution. The story follows a broad swath of characters on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Demilitarized Zone — freedom fighters, slave hunters, politicians, abolitionists, journalists, the executives of a slave-holding conglomerate and the families of people in their thrall.
Game Of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss were developing Confederate, however, they have since abandoned the doomed project to write and produce a new series of Star Wars films.
HBO did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Soon enough there won’t be any movies or tv shows that are not politicaly correct, movies and tv shows will be made to not offend anyone. Well modern society sucks.

Only seems like a complaint when discussing works that exploit the pain and images of people without power. Don’t worry…there’s plenty of art out there that doesn’t suck and doesn’t have to be at black people’s expense.

I am far from PC but a whole series based on this in modern times is not ok with me. I thought it was telling the Civil war from the Confederate side historically correct. Like General Robert E. Lee was not for slavery and was actually asked to lead the northern army but was born in a southern state and being loyal to that state, Virginia fought for the south. The main reason fir the Civil War was State rights, slavery being one of them but not the main reason. There was a show called Sliders that through worn holes they ended of in alternate time lines, one being where the U.S lost the war and was under Russian rule. But every week there went somewhere else some good some bad and they always helped.

I would have preferred this to The underground by john legend etc. ONLY because this i thought was about an alternate history! People of All colors spent to much of the last 10 yrs profiting off of slavery with movies & series, that its getting out of control & as i said most are done by people of color
