Code Black Season 4 Plans Revealed For Cancelled CBS Medical Drama

Code Black Season 4?

The CBS medical drama was terminated after three seasons, but creator Michael Seitzman has revealed what a fourth season would have looked like, per Deadline:

There’s an aspect to Ryan McGarry’s documentary, which inspired the show, which I always found interesting. When the staff was moving from the old LA County Medical Center to the new one. It shook them up in a very particular way. In a way, there were ghosts in that old building that they found they needed and those ghosts didn’t exist in the new building. It affected the way they approached their jobs and their patients and they wondered if they could still be as intimate with them in the new building. I always wanted to do that in Code Black, take our staff out of Angels Memorial and see what would happen if we moved them into a new building. Flying a plane into Angels seemed to make that an easy creative transition.

[..]  I wasn’t sure how much of these stories we would carry into next season, I just knew I wanted every character to have an explosive and emotional finale.

Are you satisfied or frustrated with the Code Black series finale? Happy/disappointed there wont be a 4th season?

I am so sad this has been cancelled. It is some of the highest quality programming on television. I would hope that perhaps a different network would pick it up and continue to grow it.

I agree that this show should never have been cancelled. Hopefully, as in Last Man Standing, another network will pick this show up and continue it. They leave crap on year after year, but if we have a really good show, it gets cancelled.

Totally agree, Code Black is a great series, cancelling it is just wrong. We have too many so called reality shows and they cancel a really good drama. What can the networks be thinking. Reality shows must be really cheap to produce.

I think is crappy to take away a really good drama. We already had to wait a long time for season 3. This was a show that could of gone far and done well now that Greys Anatomy is ending soon.
    You should bring it back!!!

Im sad about that… and again the networks are pulling the plug on another GREAT SHOW. As i mentionned many times, there are far more networks now compared to 10 years ago. And the method of compiling viewing results are something from the 90’s. The networks are forgetting about tons of viewers. so they cancel show thats are worth watching.

and again… its sad. Another GREAT SHOW is gettin axed because the they dont know how to count.

Solid Medical Drama w some very good actors both new and established. It wasnt all about hooking up and really delved into the pressures of a ER and also the inner demons facing the workers. I thought the series finale was terrific-as I knew going in it was cancelled. The ending to me was very satisfying but sad in that there is no more. surprised this wasnt picked up by another network …..Good stuff

I LOVED Code Black! It seems all the shows I like get cancelled. I’ve taken to watching mindless sitcoms and all the DVD’s I’ve collected over the years rather than watch the drivel that’s on TV nowadays. That being said, if Code Black “had” to end, they did a good, satisfying job of it. I think it concluded nicely even tho I want more…so much more…of Code Black!

I was so disappointed this quality show was cancelled. I’m not usually attracted by medical dramas, never got into Grays…nothing since ER, but this had superb writing & a stellar cast, especially after Rob Lowe joined. I wish another network would revive it, three seasons is just not enough!

It seems to me that the channels/producers tend to cancel programs that make you think of use your brain at any time and trade it for unthinking comedies with stupid written all over them. Have we as a country become so dumb there is no room for an intelligent program anymore or are the producers the ones without a modicum of intelligence?

CODE BLACK should not have been cancelled. It’s an excellent hospital drama in which we can follow the lives and careers of the characters. I definitely want a 4th season! There is so much crap on tv, and CB is a really good drama.

I am extremely disappointed in CBS (not happy with ABC either. Don’t watch much NBC) I actually cried when Code Black was over this week. Excellent cast, excellent characters, fast paced, interesting and not too much soap opera stuff. I am thinking for what I pay DirecTV maybe I should get an Amazon Fire Stick, I already have Netflix, maybe add Roku and still come out ahead. This go round CBS cancelled 6 shows I had been watching including Scorpion! TV is loosing it’s ability to come up with good ideas and when they do they dump it. This year they are trying re-boots of more old stuff. Seriously? Buffy the Vampire Slayer had her day. I want Code Black back!

I’m so sad & disappointed in CBS for cancelling such a good show. Maybe it could be picked up by Netflix.I just don’t understand why CBS cancels good shows. CBS must not read any of these comments or they’d see people love this show. If they go by the ratings and go by the younger generation only then that explains why all the good shows are canceled because it’s the younger generation that aren’t watching much TV but it’s the older generation that are watching more TV because they’re retired. So CBS wake up because your time is coming and you know what I mean.

Code Black is such a quality show, I cannot believe it was cancelled!! CBS, WHY? The acting, the writing, all top-notch. There are so many great story lines for each character that can come with this established show! Stick with it! There are so many schlock shows out there, I need quality shows to watch. I can’t afford to subscribe to other networks; I need good stuff on CBS! Please don’t cancel Code Black!

The conclusion felt rushed, and I wasn’t satisfied at all. Out of every medical drama on network television today, Code Black was about the medicine, about the patients, about the cases, and about the development and growth of the characters–not who is sleeping with who and all of the other outside-the-hospital-drama you find on the others. And it’s by far the most realistic. Very disappointed CBS cancelled this amazing drama.

I’m crossing my fingers that another network will pick up this engaging, thought-provoking medical show. I didn’t want to watch the series finale because it’s cancellation would be real. Based on on the comments and the fact that for every comment here, there are probably thousands of people that didn’t go through the extra effort we all did, but still want to see the show continue, Code Black has a devoted following.

Another one of my favorite shows canceled. I absolutely loved “Code Black!” What is wrong with you CBS? I do not intend to watch any new shows next fall on Network TV. I am tired of being disappointed. Once the few shows that I watch are canceled you will lose me as a viewer. Drama does not get any better than “Code Black.”
