Three freshman series have flunked out.
Broke, Carol’s Second Act, and Tommy have all been cancelled and will not have a second season on CBS.
All three suffered from ratings issues and were all in the Network’s troublesome Thursday slot. It didn’t help that nearly all of CBS’s established drama series were renewed.
RIP.

I’m SO DISAPPOINTED that you are cancelling Tommy, a top notch quality show ! Every member of the cast is believable and well done. It was my first time watching Edie Falco and now I see what all the accolades are about. I think the only misstep you made was in making Tommy a lesbian. The position she was placed in was hard enough just being a woman and having to deal with the “boy’s club”. It could have been alluded to in the first season and explored more in the second season once all the other aspects were fleshed out. I think youre giving up on a Law and Order type show. It needed more backing from CBS to let word of mouth and time to let this show flourish.

Strongly concur with viewer’s constructive l comments about the merits of the TV show “Tommy” as well as the poor decision making by CBS executives. Retain the show and move it to another day and time slot. Placing the show on Thursday night, the show started with two strikes and R. I. already engraved on its tombstone. Bad decision CBS.
Elsie M Leffel says
WHY would you cancel a good show and keep the crap shows?
Yvonne says
I agree…they cancel the good shows and leave the crap…What’s wrong with networks!!????!!

We enjoyed and will miss Tommy. Agree with all of Sheila Thompson’s comments which are excellent.
Cheryl Knutson says
How disappointing that CBS chose to cancel the new show Tommy which I have enjoyed watching from the beginning..The acting on the show was amazing and Edie Falco as the LA Please chief was very believable.. I think CBS’s decision to put the show on Thursdays nights was a bad choice for them.. Why couldn’t they switch it to another night.. CBS is too quick to cancel freshman shows and not give them a chance..Shame on CBS..
Paula Sarlo says
I absolutely love this show. Please continue it. It’s such a good story line. Eddie Falco is exceptional in this.
Try another time. You didn’t even give this show a chance.
With all the supernatural shows on tv, it’s nice to have something ‘ believable’ .
Gail says
I agree 100%. Edie Falco is wonderful as Abigail Thomas, Tommy. Please give this show another chance!
Karen says
I am so very disappointed in CBS in cancelling Tommy. This is a wonderful show and has been from the start.
The different networks are cancelling good show with good content, but they leave other shows that is stupid like Young Sheldon, Man With a Plan, Mom, Broke.
It is just like Fox cancelled Deputy just after one season. It is ridiculous, why not order a second season and move to a different day and time.
If I could, I would not ever watch anything ever again from CBS OR FOX.
Lindsey says
Tommy! We hardly knew ye! Sorry to see this interesting show go away.
Susan Anderson says
My friend and I loved Tommy. It was nice to see a program about an independent woman, who didn’t knuckle under to the always present white men in power. As for her being a lesbian, I don’t care whether she was or wasn’t, I liked the story and I thought Edie Falco carried off a difficult role beautifully. I am so sorry that CBS let this one go — probably to be replaced with an inane comedy or a copy of one whatever is popular with whatever age group they want to curry favor with this year. Tommy was an original idea, so of course we can’t have that — have to trot along with the herd. I am really disgusted with CBS.
Lori D says
I agree!

Agree with all of the comments on Tommy. It was a great show and should have been given another chance. CBS made another bad decision to cancel this show.

All those shows are empty trash. Be Gone
Hennie says
I really like Tommy. It is a good show. I think CBS is wrong to cancel this show. Every time there’s a good show that people like you guys always cancel it. Please put it back on
Vern Bloomquist says
Know nothing about Carol’s Second Act; but as for the other two, I can’t say I’m surprised.

Tommy was a really good P.Procedural, with just the right amount of human interest added in. This household will miss it. Another excellent performance by Edie Falco, ably supported by the rest of the cast. Would have been interesting to watch the P.C. – Mayor dynamic develop.
