NBC has cancelled The Carmichael Show after three seasons. The sitcom will not continue into Season 4 at the Peacock, and wont be shopped to other outlets, RenewCancelTV has confirmed.
In a farewell statement, creator/star Jerrod Carmichael said:
“For three seasons (okay 2.5), I got to make a show that I love with my friends. It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was 13. Now, I’m excited to go make other things that I love. Thank you to every person who worked on or watched The Carmichael show.”
Added Carmichael Show producer, 20th Century Television:
“The Carmichael Show was such a wonderful show that we choose to focus today not on its loss but on the three incredible seasons we had the pleasure to produce. We are thankful to the brilliant Jerrod Carmichael and his talented cast, and to showrunner Danielle Sanchez-Witzell, our fantastic writers and devoted production team. It’s a rarity that a comedy series tackles the social and political issues of the day in such a clever and hilariously funny way. This show was special, and we will miss it.”
The Carmichael Show series finale is slated to air later this summer.

show was just too inconsistent and either made you mad or sad, never funny throughout a whole episode IMO. Other of my family loved it but common debate was if a character was serious with what they said so that was a problem too. Lots of talent on the show hope they all do well in future endeavors

Really well done. Got their point across about relevant issues in both a serious & humorous way. Would like to see the show continue on another network if possible. Really good cast as well.
I really liked this show. I think it was one of the funniest shows on TV. Unlike Blackish which I think is the most racist show on TV.

I’m sorry to see it go. I felt the writing was very clever and made its points very well. The quips made me laugh spontaneously. They also made me look at myself, too.

I am so angry and disappointed, that this show was cancelled!! I thought it was such a fair view, of race relations. I was so glad, when it was on, for season three. When people say it wasn’t funny, I disagree. I thought it was hilarious. I would be so relieved if it came on another network. Please Oprah, consider putting this show, on your network!!!!
Thanks, so much, for letting me comment!!!
I agree. Cancel Blackish. I hate that show. This show is hilarious.
Wow…I agree…it was hilarious…
Maybe OPRAH WINFREY can puck it up…Great idea u have..
This was the modern day All In The Family. Guess it was too opinionated for some. So sick and tired of becoming invested in these new shows. Might as well go back to oldies but goodies!
JUST LIKE THOSE GREAT OLD COMEDY SHOWS…
REALITY SHOWS ARE THE WORST THING ON TV…
I loved this show! Beautifully written and acted. I laughed just as much as I did with All in the Family. With all of the junk on TV these days, I can’t imagine why a quality show like this is being cancelled. I’ll sure miss it–so sad!! Hopefully another smart station will pick it up.
Guess that soapbox they were all on will have to find another home.
I seem to always be late to the table or show up after it’s all over and yet again I found a great TV show as it is ending… The Carmichael Show, it is a “Black” comedy with very smart and savvy writing and issues, I think it should be taught in schools the shows cover hard to talk about issues, thank you to Jerrod Carmichael!
