The Cancellation Reaper – Killing TV shows since 1928
Linda says
By far, if any show should be saved for renewal it should be Hawaii 5-0. Season 7 has taken off to a spectacular start. Each story is more intriguing than the last and keeps you asking for more. Bravo! To the writers, producers, directors, and the actors for a job well done. Please keep the fans happy and save Hawaii 5-0.

To quote Les Moonves: Person of Interest was cancelled and Elementary was renewed, (even though POI has better 18 – 49 demo ratings), because CBS owned Elementary and made more money from it than Person of Interest which it did not own. Hawaii Five O. (owned by CBS), has had excellent 18 – 49 demo ratings, while the ratings of Elementary, (going against NBC Sunday Night Football, and time delayed by the NFL on CBS). continue to slide. Also Hawaii Five is a far better show than Elementary.

Disagree that 50 is a better show. Why did CBS MOVE Elementary to Sunday night. Move 50 to Sunday night and see what happens.

CBS moved Elementary to Sunday night, because it is one of the least watched CBS owned programs on the schedule. They moved Hawaii Five-O from Monday to Friday and it is still one of the most watched programs of the evening. Friday night has it’s own problems for shows that air on that night; the first night of the weekend, many people do not watch TV on Friday night because of religious reasons.
For the last few weeks, (unless it airs a repeat), Hawaii Five-O has had excellent ratings for a Friday show. Les Moonves has never had to explain why CBS renews Hawaii Five-O year after year. Clearly many people wondered why Person of Interest, (which had better 18 – 49 demo ratings), was cancelled and Elementary, (which had worse 18 – 49 demo ratings), was renewed.
