The Brave Cancelled By NBC – No Season 2 (EXCLUSIVE)

The Brave Cancelled - NBC

EXCLUSIVE: NBC has quietly cancelled The Brave after one episode – no Season 2 for the military drama.

Per sources, the network has already given up on The Brave, which pulled DOA ratings (1.3) in its premiere episode.

The decision to axe The Brave sees the network replace Friday’s scheduled repeat with a Law & Order True Crime encore:

09/29/2017 (08:00PM – 09:00PM) (Friday) : PREMIERE- ALL EYES ARE ON LYLE AND ERIK MENENDEZ WHEN THEIR PARENTS ARE BRUTALLY MURDERED – After Jose and Kitty Menendez (Carlos Gomez and Lolita Davidovich) are found murdered in their upscale Beverly Hills home, their eldest son, Lyle (Miles Gaston Villanueva), maintains a stoic appearance while his younger brother, Erik (Gus Helper), struggles to deal with overwhelming grief. As detectives Les Zoeller (Sam Jaeger) and Tom Linehan (Cliff Chamberlain) search for the killers, evidence begins to suggest that Lyle and Erik may be the prime suspects. Meanwhile, a tenacious and energetic defense attorney, Leslie Abramson (Edie Falco), takes an interest in the case. Josh Charles, Heather Graham, Anthony Edwards, Elizabeth Reaser, Chris Bauer and Constance Marie also star.

The Brave becomes the first new or returning broadcast show of the 2017-18 season to fall on the reaper’s scythe.

NBC refutes the cancellation, however, insiders stress that it is in their interests to do so, and the show is nevertheless “toast”.

It remains to be seen whether NBC will air the remainder of the first and only season of The Brave.

The Brave was billed as a heart-pounding journey into the complex world of America’s elite undercover military heroes, following Captain Adam Dalton and his heroic Special Ops squad of highly trained undercover specialists as they carry out each mission on the ground.

RIP.

I’m with those above. We liked The Brave and feel NBC really jumped the gun on this. It’s the 1st week of the season and people are just beginning to adjust to schedules of both new and returning shows. And, why not let The Brave play for at least 3-4 episodes and see if it picks up viewers?

This is typical of NBC. Anyone old enough to remember “The Pretender”? That was the year the NBC cancellations began. They want to be CBS but have so few successes in comparison it’s a pipe dream.

Agreed! They totally did not give this show a chance. In my opinion the show was off to a good start. NBC always jumps the gun and cancels shows way too soon! If I compare The Brave vs Seal Team which also premiered that week…I prefer The Brave…hands down. I’m also sure that it didn’t help that it premiered against NFL Monday Night Football.

NBC. Why you want to do this? This makes me hate your studio and it’s money grubbing politics. It is things like this that make me want to quit watching TV all together and just go find something else to do. What would you do then when you don’t have any viewers left?

With all the options now days it’s ridiculous to think that you can always get out of this world ratings especially on the first episode. NBC is notorious for canceling shows way to soon. Rarely are they number one because people don’t trust them. Have a tendency to draw people in to build an audience then all of sudden it’s cancelled. I only personally watch maybe two shows. The voice is one of them cause it’s an established show. More confidence that it won’t be cancelled. The days of 20 million viewers per episode are gone. NBC needs to accept that!!!

Yes, they are. Three months later and the cast still haven’t been released from contract, so while they didn’t take the option to extend past the thirteen initial episodes for season one, a final decision on the show has still yet to be made.

It’s on the bubble right now, and will all depend on what other shows they have in active development for next season, and how many slots they need to free up for those new shows. It could go either way, and I’m certainly not saying that it isn’t in danger, but that choice is still to be made.

I watched Seal Team again on Sunday because I didn’t like it when I saw the premier episode initially and decided to watch it again to give it a fair shake, which is more than I can say that NBC is doing for “The Brave”. I personally love “The Brave” and think it is so much better than “Seal Team”. I agree with all of the comments by the fans of this exciting military drama. The scripts were outstanding. The action and portrayals by the actors were realistic and effective. NBC apparently stands for what they are the “No Balls Company”! Of the three military shows that premiered on CBS, the CW and NBC, this was the superior show. It is with great disgust to find out this excellent drama representing our wonderful military specialists in such a positive light for all that they do covertly to protect America, that this was not given a true chance with a renewal. Many other great shows bombed in their first seasons with horrible ratings such as Cheers and Seinfeld, but went on to long and successful runs once their audience found them. Shame on NBC for failing to have the good sense to recognize this fine ensemble of actors and scripts.

There is so much crap on TV that keeps coming back week after week and yet a show that shows just a little of what our military does for us that we take for granted and they don’t get recognized for gets taken off the air after one episode. This is getting so obnoxious. I would rather watch 10 military types shows than some of those idiotic reality or so-called comedy shows.

One of my rules of thumb is that the harder a TV show or movie is pushed, the shorter its lifespan. The Brave was pushed *hard* (e.g. besides the normal commercials, there were promos for it embedded inside promos for other NBC shows) so I’m not surprised this happened. It does seem kind of ludicrous to make a decision after one episode though, there’s no time for any kind of word-of-mouth or social media interest to grow, and anyone who might still have watched it now surely won’t.

This is all so crazy! How do you cancel and entire SERIES after only airing ONE episode? That does not make any sense. My husband and I both really enjoyed that first episode and I recorded tonight’s episode so that I can watch it with my husband when he gets home from work. It seems that the typical belief seems to be that everyone in the country adores reality shows and sports. I don’t belong to either of those groups which means that I rarely get to continue watching seasons of shows that I happen to like. Still, how do you make a cancellation decision based on ONE episode? It is things like this that keeps me more than not, glued to Netflix.

NBC are you paying any attention to these comments?!
First of all it is rediculous to cancel a show after ONE episode before characters and plot develop and an audience grows.
Secondly, and this should be more important to you, your audience is EXASPERATED with you, your audience is MAD at you, your audience is saying BYE, your audience is going to NETFLIX!!
    DO YOU CARE NBC?

On a personal level, I recorded & watched BRAVE because I had read that it was the best of the 3 new military themed shows. After hearing that it was cancelled and frankly the first episode hadn’t knocked our socks off, I almost took it off my list of programs to watch.
Wow, am I glad I watched the second episode. It was excellent.
I also watched SEAL TEAM and frankly I can’t even remember what it was about 3 hours later.
    Impressive, huh!
I can only hope that someone pays attention to the comments made on this forum.

I think NBC needs to pay attention for once. The start of the Cable TV season is always weird and people are trying to set their DVRs and watch their favorite shows. People need time to get settled and try new shows. Watching The Brave and S.E.A.L Team twice I already like The Brave better. The conflict among the new members is there for both but the Brave doesn’t shove conflict after conflict down my throat. SEAL Team seemed to be a far more argumentative story. I want to know Dalton, Amir, McGuire, and Jaz’s stories. With SEAL Team I didn’t know any one of their names or care (except for the expected father). Bad move NBC….. Bad Move.

I decide to believe that it has not been canceled yet. NBC has a history of waiting a couple of weeks before axing a show, but on occasion it will cancel a show before it evens airs. If that was the case with The Brave, we would not have seen the pilot episode. So I think there is still hope for this show still.

But the let it out that they want to cancel it which tubes the ratings as people won’t start watching a show that won’t be around. They should have not let it leak and see what the ratings did for several shows.

This is a good show! It seems as if good shows are cancelled, and the reality crap stays on! Who decided 1 show was enough to know it would not succeed? Last year the drama ‘Doubt’ was cancelled after 1 show, and then aired the rest of the series on Sat. nights. I don’t know who determines what stays and what goes, but they often get it wrong!

I have watched The Brave and S.E.A.L Team twice. The Brave out shines S.E.AL Team. I made and instant connection with all characters and want to more about them. The characters in S.E.A.L. team have the depth character of cardboard cut-outs and the basis of their conflicts appear to be childish or egotistical bickering. The actors in SEAL Team seemed to be walking through their parts with little enthusiasm and I expect the show to cancelled after the first season.

NBC has solid show and they don’t realize it. NBC you need to get you heads in the game.

Do you honestly think they’re that stupid to waste that much money if they had cancelled it after 1 episode? As of October 28th this site is the ONLY site that says this show is cancelled!

Normally they just air what they have and stop there. Studios/Networks wouldn’t pay for a canceled show. Hopefully, it’s incorrect information and/or someone heard something else and got it screwed up. *Fingers crossed* someone f**ked up!

They always do this to good new shows. Not only did they not give it a chance but the ratings they cited on here are more than 4 million less than what it really was. Maybe the fact that they are denying the cancellation and it hasn’t been announced means someone is giving incorrect information…HOPEFULLY! I personally really like this show. It’s always intense as is SEAL Team. I see on one site that 13 episodes are supposed to air but only see 8 listed on Wikipedia (which could just mean they haven’t listed them there yet) so seems they haven’t ordered a full season (22 or more). Unless that’s what was planned. *Fingers Crossed* the info was wrong and it doesn’t end…

It is very disappointing to learn that NBC has cancelled The Brave series. I just spent 3 days streaming The Brave season 1 episodes on Hulu. I had no idea this show existed having recently switched from DirecTV. This show is more entertaining with better storylines and characters than the Seal Team. I had watched the Seal Team and wasn’t impressed even though I do like David Boreanaz as an actor and kept trying to give the show the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes a good actor can’t save a mediocre show. CBS obviously spent more in advertising for Seal Team then NBC did on The Brave. A better series name might also have helped the show, but the show is good. NBC would do themselves good to spend the money to better advertise and battle the survival of their new shows than to simply acquiesce.

You replaced the Brave with that crap show on Monday night. I’ve waited for the brave to return, when some one told me it was cancelled, What wrong with you people?. I hope CBS or one of the other networks pick it up.

NBC RENEW THIS SHOW!!!! IT IS A VERY GOOD SHOW!!!! I THINK, AND KNOW THAT THE BRAVE IS WAY MORE A BETTER SHOW THAN THE S.E.A.L.S SHOW ON CBS!!!! CAN’T YOU SEE AND READ HOW PEOPLE LIKE THIS SHOW!!!!! QUIT BEING STUPID AND BRING THIS SHOW BACK!!!!

I could help NBC cancel one of their many garbage shows vs cancelling a great show like the Brave

I really wonder if anyone at the networks ever watches TV to know what’s a good show and what’s not. It seems increasingly apparent they don’t. They keep mindless reality shows (which have to be scripted) and cancel intelligent entertaining shows like this one. I was so looking forward to a Season 2, 3, 4… of this show, it was great. This is exactly why people turn to NetFlix to what shows that were given a full run so they don’t get their legs cut out from underneath them with an abrupt cancellation. NBC screwed up on this one. It would be great if Netflix or Amazon picked it up. Fingers crossed.
