Bloodline‘s cancellation resulted in its 5-6 season plan being condensed into three seasons. Speaking to THR, John Leguizamo opened up on how the show’s abbreviated run impacted his character, Ozzy Delveccio [POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT]:
“This was supposed to be my season and Andrea Riseborough’s (Eve). Season three was supposed to be our season, but now that you have to close the show, you have to take care of the family throughline that you started. So they figured out a way to keep my character alive, and they had a lot to accomplish in one year. It became very interesting. I had a blast talking with Todd and trying to figure out what are we going to do with this character. How are we going to flip it so I’m not just the new nemesis.”
Lamenting the “unfortunate” dismantling of Bloodline‘s original plan, Leguizamo believes his character was among those who ‘paid the price’:
“That happens when you have to shorten the five-year span. Peripheral characters pay a little bit of a price. It’s unfortunate.
Did you enjoy Bloodline Season 3 despite the hastened ending?

Wish they didn’t have to end the show early….watching Season 3 now and it doesn’t seem as good as previous two seasons. Seems very disjointed. Sad, loved this show. Still watching though 🙂

I don’t mind a sudden ending with no clear conclusion (e.g. The Sopranos), but this ending was beyond the pale with nothing but loose ends. Very unhappy we invested so much time because they couldn’t be bothered to offer a satisfactory wrap up episode or, at worst, an outline of the future (e.g. Six Feet Under). They owed the dedicated viewers at least that much.
