BBC Two has banished Banished, cancelling the penal drama after only one season.
Banished, the story of survival set in the stark historical reality of the founding of the penal colony in Australia in 1788, will not move forward into Season 2, actor Russell Tovey has revealed.
Writing on Twitter, he confirmed:
“The history of Australia will have to tell it’s story without us – #banished on @BBCTwo has ended it’s adventure.. Sad day for drama”

Banished is cancelled???!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Say it isn’t soo!!!!!! I love this show! The story is great, the acting superb, the characters interesting……I am soooo disappointed.

As with all good series, They always have to kill them off, because they are too creative or get the mind working. While they still air reality TV, Garbage that clogs the mind.
One would thing It was FOX network and not BBC. It seems they are following suit.
Makes a person wonder who is actually behind the Decisions.

This show needs to be brought back!!! Surely there is enough material for it to do so! I expect better from the BBC than cancellation of such a fine series. Do I need to rethink my viewing network?

I can’t imagine why such an amazing series would be cancelled!!! I was glued to the screen for every single episode. It was original, smartly written, and had fabulous production values. Please bring it back!

Finally something while watching and BBC pull thr plug. The story was full of adventure, growth and endless possibilities.

Cannot believe after you sucked me into the series you just cancel it… I have not got into a series in a long time, surely there’s enough people that want this… Sell it to another station this show must go on…. There is sooo much potential and potentially so much money to be made…. Please I want to see series 2,3,4,5 and so on!!!!!!!

So sad to know there will not be another season. This show had us on the edge every episode. My husband and I binged on the whole season 1 and finished it in one weekend when it was offered on HULU.. I just do not get it. So much so-called “reality” garbage just hangs on and on and on…..yet a fantastic show like this AXED!

I Completely Agree!! I found on Hulu n binged in 1 day! Loved Russell Tovey in Being Human was so excited to see him again. Was so looking forward to more. The blonde I saw in Ripper Street, the rest of the cast I’ve seen all over. Just great all around story!

The cancellation of this show is insane!!! Please continue with more seasons!! It’s very unfair to leave us all hanging and this is an excellent show with superb acting and story line. I couldn’t stop watching it, it was riveting! I don’t understand why a quality show like this gets cancelled but ignorant reality crap goes on and on. Extremely disappointed in you BBC!!!!!

You are so right; I just watch the first season. Here now in 2019 and found it GREAT. Good story line, characters and a path that should continue. Once more the people who create entertainment have no idea of what we really want. I have to watch people dating, fighting and acting like trash and idiots but can’t view something a show like this has drama, a love for life and dreams. Bring it back

I just watched Banished and was very impressed, but I’m am saddened to find out that the series was canceled after one season. The series should be brought back. I would implore the management at the BBC to reconsider this excellent series.
